A Better Sex Toy RFQ: What Changes Product Options and Pricing

A useful sex toy RFQ does not need to be a long technical document. It needs to show who the product is for, which requirements cannot change, which points are flexible, and whether the buyer is selecting products, requesting samples, or preparing an order.

A message that says, “Please send your catalog and best price,” usually produces too many options and prices based on different assumptions. One quotation may include custom packaging while another covers only a standard product. The figures look comparable, but the offers are not answering the same request.

The purpose of a better RFQ is not to ask more questions. It is to remove the uncertainties that change product selection and pricing.

Start with the sales context, not only a product photo

The same sex toy can play a different role in an online store, a specialist retailer, or a wholesale range. Before discussing models, explain the business setting:

  • Target country or sales region
  • Sales channel, such as an independent website, marketplace, retail shop, or wholesale distribution
  • Intended customer and the need the product should address
  • Its role in the range, such as an entry option, core seller, upgrade, or gift item
  • Expected retail position or a workable purchasing cost range

You do not need to finalize every technical detail at this stage. The sales context helps a supplier remove unsuitable options before sending recommendations.

For example, “an entry level external stimulation product for first time buyers” gives a clearer direction than “a popular vibrator.” The first description identifies a customer and a product role. The second can still refer to many unrelated products.

Separate fixed requirements from flexible points

RFQs often become difficult because every preference appears to have the same priority.

First, list the conditions that cannot be replaced. These may include the product category, main stimulation type, control method, size range, charging direction, required packaging content, or language needs for the target market.

Then list the points that can change after the available options are reviewed. These may include color count, surface finish, packaging structure, accessory combination, branding method, or quantity per version.

This distinction tells the supplier where an exact match is required and where a practical alternative may be useful. If every detail is fixed, suitable existing products may be excluded. If everything remains open, the buyer may receive a large list with no clear priority.

Describe the product, branding, and order scope separately

A sex toy project normally has three connected layers. Each one can change the available options and the quotation.

Product scope

State the required product type, main function, control direction, power or charging preference, approximate size range, and the features that affect the intended customer decision.

If a parameter is not yet known, say that you are open to recommendations within the stated use case. An invented number does not make an RFQ more professional.

Branding and packaging scope

Explain whether the project needs a logo, custom color, packaging design, language versions, barcode placement, or other retail presentation requirements.

“Private label required” is still too broad. Adding a logo to an existing product, redesigning packaging, changing the product appearance, and developing a new structure can involve different quantities, work, and pricing.

Our guide to OEM, ODM, and private label adult products can help buyers decide whether a project is closer to branding an existing product, making selected changes, or developing a more customized solution.

Order scope

Include an estimated total quantity, the expected split between products or versions, the destination market, the current project stage, and whether samples are needed before an order decision.

A total quantity alone can be misleading. An order concentrated in one product version may have different conditions from the same total divided across several products and colors.

If the project is still testing demand, say so directly. This helps the supplier distinguish a focused trial order from a full range launch. Our low MOQ adult product trial order guide explains how to give each test product a clear purpose.

Leave room for recommendations, with clear boundaries

A good RFQ should not limit the supplier to answering only yes or no. Buyers can define the requirements that must be met and invite recommendations on:

  • Existing products that fit the target position
  • A smaller range with clearer product differences
  • Packaging options that are easier to execute without changing the core offer
  • Products that should enter sample review first
  • Custom items that should wait until the sample is approved

The boundaries still matter. “Please recommend some products” is too open. “Please recommend two or three clearly different rechargeable external stimulation products for an entry retail position” gives the supplier a useful decision frame.

Make different quotations genuinely comparable

Before comparing unit prices, check whether each quotation covers the same scope:

  • The same or a genuinely comparable product version
  • The same quantity allocation between products, colors, or versions
  • The same packaging, instructions, branding, and accessory requirements
  • The same project stage, such as samples, a trial order, or a production order
  • The same delivery and document scope
  • A clear record of what is included and what still needs confirmation

A lower unit price may simply exclude packaging, accessories, or services included elsewhere. It may not represent a lower total project cost.

The first RFQ also does not need to close every detail. Its most useful result is a short list of products worth reviewing and a clear next action, not another larger catalog.

What should happen after the quotation?

After the first quotation round, the buyer should be able to answer three questions:

  1. Which products should move to sample review or further confirmation?
  2. What are the important differences between the proposed routes?
  3. Which product, packaging, or order details must be confirmed next?

If the discussion still consists of dozens of unrelated product photos and prices, the RFQ has not yet narrowed the purchasing decision.

How AIYUEWEI can help

AIYUEWEI helps B2B buyers turn a broad request into a clearer sex toy product range based on the target market, sales channel, product direction, and project stage. Our team coordinates with long term manufacturing partners to separate existing product choices, branding and packaging changes, and custom requirements that need further evaluation. Price, MOQ, lead time, and document availability are confirmed only after the product and order scope are clear.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an exact product model before sending an RFQ?

No. You can begin with the product category, target customer, sales channel, essential requirements, and price position. A model list can be narrowed after suitable options are identified. A product photo without business context is more likely to produce mismatched recommendations.

Should I provide a target purchasing cost?

A workable range can help, especially when you explain whether it covers only the product or also packaging, accessories, and other requirements. A formal quotation still depends on the selected product, quantity, branding scope, and delivery terms.

Can one RFQ compare ready products, private label, and custom routes?

Yes, but list the three routes separately. Otherwise, a standard product price may be treated as an answer to a custom project, or custom development conditions may be applied to a simple branding request.

How many products should one RFQ include?

There is no fixed number. Each product should have a clear role. If two products target the same buyer, answer the same need, and have no useful difference, adding both may only make the decision harder.
